Writing Journal 2: A Special Skill I Have

Honestly, I think my special skill is being very resourceful. I like helping people and solving problems, looking for solutions is something I enjoy a lot. I believe it is a very useful skill but it can also lead to people taking advantage of you and your helpful disposition. I like helping everyone if I can, but I don’t want to be made a fool of by anyone. I find that people often get so used to getting help that they don’t even try to find the solutions themselves, or they will start whining and you will end up helping just to make them shut up. In my opinion, that’s a big problem, you try to be as unselfish as you can and then people take advantage of that to be even more selfish themselves, unbelievable!
Be that as it may, I still enjoy helping people. I think being resourceful is just a nice and useful skill to have, even if you are only helping yourself. I enjoy solving puzzles, looking up information online… if something can be found, I will find it… unless I lost it inside my room, then I’ll have to call my mum hahahahaha.
I simply enjoy investigating things. For example, a year ago my dog wouldn’t eat his food, I bought the most expensive kibble I could find and he simply would not eat. His vet couldn’t give me a solution so I decide to find it myself. That’s how I found the BARF diet, which is basically feeding a species appropriate diet, so no kibble. Well, it’s been a year and my dog is happier and healthier than ever, so I think that’s a win.
I also think that it is important that, as we grow older, we don’t lose interest in discovering new things, that might be another skill I have: being interested in studying. I finished my first degree (History) and studied a Master’s degree in Education, then I studied for “oposiciones” and now I’m studying another degree (English). Most people think I’m crazy for studying so much, but I enjoy it… I’m sure enjoying what I do might be another very special skill that I hope I’ll never lose, I don’t want to become a bored old woman when I’m forty or sixty years old, I want to keep discovering new and exciting things to study and do.
