Writing Journal 3: A Hobby

12:30 PM. 

     I think my biggest hobby at the moment might be watching Formula 1. 

     Formula One, also known as F1, is the highest class of international auto racing for single-seater racing cars and it was inaugurated in 1950. A season consist of a number of races and the points system determines two World Championships: one for drivers and one for the constructors. 

    F1 cars are the fastest racing cars in the world, thus racing drivers have to train very hard, since they come up against fierce competition. Despite the safety measures, it is a very dangerous sport and they have to be able to concentrate on racing while still pushing the limits. 

    Even though Spain does not have a local F1 team, we do have great racing drivers, such as Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz Jr. Nowadays, Lewis Hamilton is breaking all the records, he is actually the first driver to win a hundred races. My favorite racing driver is Charles Leclerc, who drives for Ferrari; not only do I think he is a great driver, but he also has got a big sporting spirit, which I believe is one of the most important things in such a dangerous job. 

  This years championship might be the ultimate challenge for two of the drivers, Hamilton and Verstappen; the first one is after his eighth championship while the second one is looking forward to winning his maiden championship. They have narrowly beaten each other in most races, and the fight for the championship is very close with only a few races remaining. 

     I love watching F1 races and I desperately want to be able to watch one in a circuit, but I might have to wait a few years in order to do that because it is not cheap at all; nevertheless, you can find me cheering loudly from my sofa on race days. Once the season finishes, around December, I do not know how I will manage to wait until next season kicks off in March in Australia. 

    All in all, F1 is one of the most exciting sports in the world. Racing drivers work very hard to be able to compete and be safe, they are worthy of admiration. At this point, you might have realized that I would do anything to be able to attend a race.
