Writing Journal 8: The People I Live With

 9.32 AM.

I live with my mother, eight cats, a dog and a squirrel. Yeah, we are a crazy bunch. If you're wondering where the rest of my family is, the answer is quite simple: my dad and my younger brother live in London because of work.

My mum is an amazing woman and a very hard worker. She works twelve hours a day so we have everything we need, and she's a cleaning lady, so it's not an easy or nice work. She loves reading and watching TV shows, but she can't splurge on books, so my brother and I bought her and iPad Mini where she could read. She's very funny and I remember having a very happy childhood because of her, most of my friends envy me because I have a great relationship with my mother, but it would be impossible not to have it, because she's great.

Then there's our pets. The squirrel is called Húrin, my mum found him when he was five weeks old, he had fallen from a tree and she couldn't get him up. We planned to bring him back to his home, but then there was a DANA (lots of rain) and we started feeding him and taking care of him, so he wouldn't know how to take care of himself if he was free. He's a pretty funny thing, very intelligent, and probably more obedient than the dog.

We have eight cats, and they're all very different. The last one we got is called Ragnar, he's a siamese my mother picked up from the street (you might be noticing a theme here). He had been abandoned when he was two weeks old and we had to feed him with a bottle. He's basically a demon, but a sweet one.

Then there's my dog, a Great Pyrenees who looks like a horse and feels like my shadow. The story of how I got him is pretty funny. I used to walk through a place where there was a big Great Pyrenees who wouldn't stop barking at me, but we became friends after a few weeks. When I started my Master's I stopped going there, but a month after, when I arrived, ready to say hi to my friend, I found lots of puppies. They were so, so, so cute! I instantly loved them, particularly the cuddliest looking one. My mum, who knows I'm a very shy person, told me "if you ask about the dog to the owners, I will let you keep him". The thing is, where the dogs are is kind of a second residence, and she actually thought I wouldn't do it... but the dog was so cute, I loved him already. I left a note on the door with my phone number and the owners called. I was in an examen and they had to call my mum, when she told me I was so excited! The next day we went to see the dogs and I was able to pet them for the first time. They tried to eat my hair, but well, puppies are like that. The owners could see that I was very enamored with the dog, so they gifted it to me.God, I can't remember being happier than it that moment, with a 40 pounds puppy on my arms. He's my pride and joy, and I love every day that I'm able to spend with him. He was kind of a demon for a few months, but after he grew up (he's two years old now) he became an angel.
