Writing Journal 9: American customs I like or dislike
10.10 AM.
Why do they have to make a reality show out of everything? Not gonna lie, I love some of them: those twins who fix homes, or that couple from Wacco... but OMG, realities about a family? For example, Keeping Up With the Kardashians... damn, that's some shitty TV, and people absolutely love it! Or those new shows about couples, Love Island and things like that... so boring, honestly. I guess they cater to what everyone wants, because it's not like they have no audience, but I can't stand them.
Nevertheless, there's some customs I don't dislike, such as the way they celebrate some holidays, like the 4th of July or Thanksgiving, and let's not forget Black Friday, we have to thank America for that awesome day of discounts.
Actually, it's not like I envy any of their customs, I think they are pretty weird sometimes, and depending on where on America we are, people are kind of crazy. Gun control, or the lack of it, it's pretty worrying. I think we can call their love for guns a custom, because it does not feel even remotely normal for the rest of the world.
Another thing I enjoy it's the way the fight for equality despite the blatant racism that America exudes, it's clear that people are trying to change their country for the better, and since in Spain we're seeing kind of the opposite, it's nice and refreshing to see Americans fight for their rights, particularly black people's rights.
